Monica Griego joined CMECC as Executive Director in 2008. Ms. Griego has a diverse range of experience working to improve health outcomes for the underserved. Her professional background includes program management, legislative advocacy and lobbying, communications, and community organizing.
Prior to her position at CMECC, Ms. Griego led the creation and management of KidzBlitz, a program that organized six successful Medicaid and CHP+ enrollment fairs in low-income, multi-ethnic communities. She also managed field activities for Mi Familia Vota, a campaign that helped to register tens of thousands of Latino voters. In addition, she worked as Legislative Director for the Colorado Consumer Health Initiative where she played a key role in passing several pieces of legislation that had a significant impact on improving health care access for consumers.
Additional work experience includes positions with Service Employees International Union, Deutsche Banc, the Robert F. Kennedy Memorial and the U.S. White House. Ms. Griego earned her Bachelors degree in international law from Georgetown University. She is bilingual and bicultural.
