About the CMECC Public Policy Program
Colorado’s ethnic communities need a voice in the health care debate, and there are many organizations in Colorado doing important work to support the interests of their specific ethnic communities.
As the only organized coalition of these efforts across our state, CMECC provides a unified voice working to advocate for change in the health, mental health and behavioral health systems for all Colorado communities of color.
We are the only advocacy organization tracking all health legislation pertaining to the mental health, behavioral health and comprehensive health systems and providing an analysis to our membership and partners on how these policies may affect the health outcomes of communities of color.
CMECC has built relationships with legislators on both aisles (Republican and Democrat) and maintains strong credibility with policy makers at the Colorado State Capitol. CMECC dedicates considerable resources to educating legislators on issues regarding health care access, systems improvement and improving quality of care. We also deliver timely and accurate information to our members, so they can take decisive and immediate action to influence health care policy for the betterment of the communities we represent.
Our health advocacy platform is driven by our members. Our members are those organizations and health care providers who provide care and resources to ethnically diverse Colorado communities every day. Their voice is an important one in the health care debate, and CMECC helps them bring their issues to the attention of policy makers and relevant stakeholders to ensure they are addressed at the state policy-making level.
