CMECC Resources - Policy Summit

The Colorado Multi-Ethnic Cultural Consortium (CMECC) 2010 Policy Summit: Building Momentum was held January 15, 2010. This conference provided a forum for participants to engage with other policymakers and advocates across the state, identifying solutions and building a shared policy agenda to better meet the health care needs of communities of color.

Colorado Resources

Asian Pacific Development Center — The Asian Pacific Development Center is a community-based, nonprofit 501 (c) (3) organization founded in 1980 to serve the needs of a growing population of Asian American and Pacific Islander (AA/PI) residents throughout Colorado.

Center for African American Health — The Center for African American Health is dedicated to improving the health and wellbeing of the African-American community. It provides culturally-sensitive disease prevention and disease management programs to African-Americans living in the metro Denver area.

Colorado Asian Health Education and Promotion — CAHEP is a non-profit organization committed to reducing health disparities in the Asian American Pacific Islanders (AAPI) population in Colorado by providing an inclusive framework of community organizations sharing good practices in health care.

Denver Indian Family Resource Center — The Denver Indian Family Resource Center, founded in early 2000, is a child welfare agency dedicated to meeting the diverse and emerging needs of Indian children and families in the Denver metropolitan area.

El Centro Esperanza — The mission of El Centro Esperanza is to provide professional mental health and support services that are culturally and linguistically competent, that honor and enrich the lives of diverse Latino individuals, families and groups, and that benefit the community as a whole.

Servicios de la Raza — The mission of Servicios de la Raza is to provide and advocate comprehensive, culturally relevant human services primarily, but not limited to, the Spanish speaking population.

National Resources

It provides state-specific numbers on how many people will gain coverage under the bill, as well as how many people will be uninsured without health reform.

National Urban Indian Family Coalition — The National Urban Indian Family Coalition is a national network of urban Indian organizations that strengthen Urban Native families by reinforcing cultural identity and respectfully working in harmony with Tribal Governments and other institutions to bring positive change, increase access and provide a strong voice.

National Asian American Pacific Islander Mental Health Association — NAAPIMHA provides a national advocacy voice to address the unique mental health issues of Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) communities.
